Wade Bieber
Wade began his professional outdoor career in 2016 in Northern California on the American River. After four full seasons of work (2016-2019) with Rock-N-Water as an adventure guide taking guests whitewater rafting, rock climbing, non-technical canyoneering, and backcountry backpacking, he turned his focus to nursing school as a flexible career that would permit a return to seasonal outdoor guiding for his family, though he has returned to RNW in limited capacities each summer. He works now as an RN in an Emergency Deparment in Suffolk, Virginia
Adventure History
After a childhood of enjoying hikes and the outdoors, Wade began climbing competitively in high school, and has been a passionate climber for more than a decade. After college, he began working as a whitewater rafting and rock climbing guide in Northern California, attending a guide school with Rock-N-Water. While working, Wade received swiftwater rescue certifications, and guided groups of primarily middle and high school groups on Class III and Class IV whitewater on the South and Middle Forks of the American River. He also guided day trips to an outdoor climbing destination, rigging top rope climbing systems and belaying new climbers, providing instruction and encouragement. Rappelling experiences were also set up and facilitated. Non-technical canyoneering trips were also guided, including upstream and downstream hikes in numerous local gorges, and Wade managed the safe execution of cliff jumping and underwater cavern exploration for clients. Lastly, he also guided remote backcountry backpacking trips in the area of the Rubicon.
In his private experience, Wade has boated a number of Class V whitewater runs around the country in R2 and commercial raft crafts. RIvers have included the Upper and Lower Gauley, Upper and Lower Yough, the Lava section of the Deschutes, North Fork American, Kyberz section of the South Fork American, Lobin run of the Feather, sections of the Snake River, Tiger Creek, and the Lehigh river. He has private experience leading multi-pitch sport and traditional climbing, and instructing friends to expand their adventure skills, introducing a number of co-workers from the company he worked for to sport, multi-pitch, and trad climbing.
